Our Story
Bergmann Center began with
the vision of one remarkable woman.
In the 1960s, when many children with developmental disabilities were isolated or institutionalized, Lillian Bergmann believed they deserved something better. She believed every person should have the opportunity to learn, grow, participate, and be valued by their community.
Her compassion inspired the creation of Bergmann Center—a legacy that continues today as we serve adults throughout Northern Michigan.
