Bergmann Center Reopens Main Facility after March ice storm renovations!

The Bergmann Center main facility on Martin Road in Charlevoix was severely damaged in the March 2025 Ice Storm. In the ensuing months, renovations and refurnishing of the facility was conducted with the help of refurbishment partners, grants,  donors, City of Charlevoix, Bergmann Board,  the staff, North Country Community Mental Health Agency, volunteers and the individuals served.  We thank each and every one of your for your patience and commitment to assure the Bergmann Center remains a viable source of services for many years to come.  The Resale Shop, previously located on M-66, is now relocated to the Martin Road location and reopens December 8, 2025.

Since 1965, Bergmann Center has empowered individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Northern Lower Michigan through inclusive, person-centered services. We provide the tools, training, and opportunities that foster independence, dignity, and meaningful community connection.

​The Bergmann Center helps individuals with disabilities achieve their personal goals for employment and community integration. 

The Bergmann Center Resale Shop serves as a valuable resource for the community, providing jobs for individuals with disabilities and raising funds to support the center's educational, engagement and inclusivity and programs. 

From life skills and workplace readiness to creative expression and social connection, our programs are tailored to meet the diverse needs and goals of each individual we serve.

Bergmann Center is a catalyst for change—advocating for equity, accessibility, and visibility for

differently-abled individuals throughout Northwest Michigan. Our work strengthens communities

and inspires inclusion..

We provide the structure, guidance, and resources individuals need to thrive—whether through

daily living supports, transportation, or personalized service planning.

Through partnerships with local industries, we create meaningful work opportunities and contribute

to the regional economy by producing high-quality, saleable goods.

We cultivate leadership and self-advocacy by empowering individuals to shape their own paths and

serve as ambassadors of inclusion in their communities.

Bergmann Center Inc. is a  501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the developmentally disabled, physically disabled,  and mentally ill community  in Northern Lower Michigan.​​
